Today I had a photoshoot with two of my theatre friends; Kate and Di. This was their first photoshoot and also the first shoot I have done with two people at once. It was great fun, even if it rained on an off all day.

On days off I have a habit of going through old photos and putting up a few that I like. This is one such occasion. This time, the model is the lovely Lila, from a photoshoot we did back in June last year.
The past couple of days have been fantastic, hot and busy. I went to see my first ever Big Day Out on Friday in Sydney. What a day it was. Plenty of fantastic bands and things to see and do. To top off an already great weekend, I had the amazing chance to photograph the 2nd Sydney show on Saturday, which also happened to be the 100th Big Day Out.
Getting to share a photography pit at one of Australia's best loved music festivals, with some of Australia's top music photographers - was an experience I will never forget.
When I started photographing bands back in 2007, I never even imagined that I would get a chance to photograph at the Big Day Out. Hopefully this years was just the start of many.

I was first introduced to "The Beez" at last years Corinbank Festival, purely by accident. Myself and a few other photographers decided to venture further up into the bush, towards the smaller "Gibraltar Grove" stage. It was about 10pm and this crazy band from Germany were playing songs that sounded rather familiar. The band was "The Beez" - a cover band the likes of which I have never heard before.
The only way to describe them is by quoting their website:
"The Beez have furnished their house with musical bric-a-brac from around the world – a potpourri of moving, silly, deep and sometimes meaningless pop and rock songs. These songs are, however, anything but common or garden variety.
The four tonal interior decorators from the Beez rearrange and craft a song until a certain stylistically unmistakable Beez Feng Shui emerges. The Beez are at home on any stage and travel light-four voices, two acoustic guitars, an acoustic bass and an accordion and, it has to be said, more than a few costumes…The Beez are renowned as excellent hosts, serving lavish lashings of humour and musicality guaranteed to charm every audience." - (http://www.thebeez.de/)
They are currently touring Australia again and will be peforming in locations around the country. More information can be found here.
Definately check them out if they are playing near you!
In light of this tour, I thought I would post a couple of the photos of them that I took at Corinbank 2009.
Last night I went to the Canberra Theatre to photograph the "John Butler Trio". It was the second time I have seen them play, the last being many years ago at the Royal Theatre.
This tour is the first with his new band and they were definately sounding fresh and energetic, even whilst playing some of the older JBT classics.
It was the first time I have photographed at the Canberra Theatre. It was different to say the least. We had free run of pretty much everywhere in front of the stage and in the audience which was nice.
Obviously some of the best shots were to be had from up close. This would have provided a bit of entertainment for the audience, seeing a bunch of photographers crawling around trying to get a shot whilst staying low enough so we didn't get in the way of people sitting in the front row.
I first photographed the "Howling Bells" back in may of 2007 at The Green Room. (The were being supported at the time by The Whiskey Go Go's and The Temper Trap.) From what I can recall, they were the 2nd band I ever photographed so when I heard that they were coming back to Canberra, I knew I had to go and photograph them again.
This time around they performed at the ANU Bar, where, as usual the lighting wasn't very "photographer friendly". :)
It was a great gig though, Juanita is still an amazing singer and their new songs were fantastic live.
This photo is completely different to my usual style but I liked it a lot.
This afternoon I had a photoshoot with a new to modelling friend; Emily. She did a great job and looked fantastic in a selection of summery and formal dresses. We shot in various locations, that on the day turned out to be rather popular amongst the wedding photographers of Canberra as well.
Thanks for a fun afternoon Em.
Today Grace and I had yet another photoshoot. Anybody would think we loved taking photos together. It has been a pretty hot summer here so far but luckily the heat held off for the morning so we could spend some more time outside. We visited a few new places including some railway tracks which was great fun.
