Super Best Friends at the ANU Bar Finale.
Super Best Friends at the ANU Bar Finale.
Next up from the ANU Bar Finale gig, we have Citizen Kay. I had never seen him perform before and wow what a treat it was!
Tonight I made one final trip to the ANU Bar for the final gig before it closes forever. Thinking of all the bands that have played there and the ones I was lucky enough to photograph over the last ten years of shooting bands makes me feel both happy and sad. It will be a massive loss for live music in Canberra.
I managed to photograph the last couple of bands and will be uploading photos over the coming week.
First up we have TONK. My favourite Canberra band and great guys. I have been photographing them ever since I started shooting gigs back in 2007 and have loved every gig I have been to of theirs both in Canberra and interstate. They are always so much fun to photograph.
Tonight was the launch of album number two from Canberra band TONK. The follow up to the very popular "Sister Switchblade" is called "Ruby Voodoo" and it sounds awesome.
TONK have always been my favourite band to photograph and I have shot them countless times both in Canberra and interstate, since I first started photographing bands back in 2007. They are a top bunch of guys and deserve big things, lets hope this album brings it!
Thanks Jinx, Steve, Ben, Mikey, Matt. (& Tristan)
Here's to many many more gigs.
Tonight, I got to photograph an Aussie band that I have wanted to shoot for ages, Airbourne.
I certainly wasn't disappointed. It has been a while since I have been in "the pit" and it was great to be back. They were fantastic and a joy to photograph. Here are some of my favourites.
I first photographed the "Howling Bells" back in may of 2007 at The Green Room. (The were being supported at the time by The Whiskey Go Go's and The Temper Trap.) From what I can recall, they were the 2nd band I ever photographed so when I heard that they were coming back to Canberra, I knew I had to go and photograph them again.
This time around they performed at the ANU Bar, where, as usual the lighting wasn't very "photographer friendly". :)
It was a great gig though, Juanita is still an amazing singer and their new songs were fantastic live.
This photo is completely different to my usual style but I liked it a lot.
Tonight, on the eve of me flying to the UK, a rather large crowd had gathered to see "Ladyhawke" perform at the ANU Bar. It was a great gig, which luckily I was able to photograph before flying out.
Tonight I got to take photos of one of my favorite bands. Last time I saw Little Birdy play was at "The Venue" back in June 2007. They are currently touring to promote their new album; "Confetti". I love this album, the music is a great mixture of their usual style and also has a real soul, 50's, Motown sort of feel to it. They played at the ANU to a full crowd that eagerly awaited hearing the new music being played live.
I really enjoyed the gig, they are always fantastic live, with the band beingfull of energy, especially lead singer/guitarist; Katy Steele.
Steve Gray of "Me The Conqueror"
Tonight I finally got to check out Canberra band; "Me The Conqueror". They were supporting Mammal (See Photo in previous post).
Australian garage rock legends; "The Vines" graced Canberra with their presence tonight, playing at the ANU Bar to a pretty full crowd.
